MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 8, 2021 03:59 PM
From: Representative Kathleen C. Tomlinson and Rep. Frank A. Farry, Rep. Tina M. Davis, Rep. John T. Galloway, Rep. Shelby Labs, Rep. F. Todd Polinchock, Rep. Meghan Schroeder, Rep. Craig T. Staats, Rep. Wendi Thomas, Rep. Perry S. Warren
To: All House members
Subject: Emergency Disaster Individual Relief Fund

Over the past summer, I have seen my district and other parts of Bucks County be devastated  by storm damage.  Whether it was an F3 Tornado, a 100 year storm, or historic flooding, the residents of Bensalem Township and its surrounding communities have suffered constantly.  In the worst moments of their lives, we have worked with every level of government to secure emergency funding only to find out that we didn't reach a level of required damage or a monetary value set by the Federal government.  This is an absolute disgrace and completely unacceptable.  This is why in the near future we will be introducing legislation that will create an Emergency Disaster Individual Relief Fund.  This fund will activate when a natural disaster occurs in the Commonwealth and significant damage ensues.  As we continue to see an increase of micro-storms and a historic level of tornado warnings, we must work together to help people when they are at the lowest point in their lives.

Although is is only the first step in the process, I look forward to working with my colleagues across the Commonwealth to put the residents of this Commonwealth first during their most challenging moments in life.

I hope you will join us in cosponsoring this legislation as we work to protect the people of Pennsylvania. Contact Frank Curran in my office at 215-750-1017 if you have any questions.
