MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 17, 2021 02:46 PM
From: Representative Liz Hanbidge
To: All House members
Subject: Ensuring Homeowners can Install Solar Panels

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation ensuring those living in a community with a homeowners’ association (HOA) are able to install solar panels and solar energy systems.  Allowing homeowners the choice to use green energy, we create a cleaner, more energy efficient, Pennsylvania.  This legislation prevents HOAs from prohibiting or restricting the installation or use of a solar energy system on a detached roof or townhouse.

Solar energy creates no noise pollution and does not impact neighboring homes.  As costs for solar energy decline, accessibility to these systems is increasing.  As a result, more Pennsylvania residents are interested in utilizing this technology.  Solar energy development not only creates jobs and but also reduces our dependency on fossil fuels.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation that will increase access to green energy.
