Subject: | Reopening Counties with Health Departments |
In the near future we plan to introduce legislation that would allow counties with their own Health Departments or PA DOH-approved jurisdictional agreements with other county Health Departments to develop and implement plans to reopen. This legislation is a commonsense proposal that will allow counties across the Commonwealth to create a safe, responsible plan that will allow their local economy to restart. This proposal will empower local governments to work with their county medical experts, rather than relying on metrics from Harrisburg that ignore actual local data. We drafted this legislation after hearing the countless stories of business owners who are on the verge of losing everything and believe they are able to safely re-open while following strict CDC guidelines; and after personally speaking to thousands of unemployed workers who haven’t received a dime from unemployment since March. We invite you to cosponsor this very important piece of legislation to help our counties move forward with plans that are best suited to our local economies. |
