Subject: School Bus Contractor Grant Program
 
I plan to introduce legislation creating the School Bus Contractor Grant Program.
 
The intent of this program is to assist our school pupil transportation providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many small businesses, a contractor or school district that owns its own bus fleet are experiencing financial issues. My bill will provide a onetime financial assistance to our school pupil transportation providers through a competitive grant program administered by the PA Department of Education. Grant funds will be disbursed based on 10% of 2019-2020 school year contractual costs or state reimburse costs. A contractor or school district is eligible if they are providing 50% or less pupil transportation services in the 2020-2021 school year.
