Subject: | CPR Instruction-Grades 6-12 |
I plan to introduce legislation that will require a school entity to teach CPR instruction for grades six through twelve beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. CPR is a lifesaving technique that can be performed by almost anyone with the proper training and instruction. According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital each year, with 45% of victims surviving when a bystander administers CPR. By teaching our students CPR across the Commonwealth, our communities can increase the number of those who could potentially save the lives of others. Bystander CPR can double or triple a cardiac arrest patient's chance of survival. I ask you to join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation |
