Subject: | Condemning cuts to SNAP Benefits |
Pennsylvania’s elderly, disabled, and lower-income families are at risk due to a recently released federal proposal that would change the eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). These changes would restrict states from allowing participants receiving certain public assistance benefits from being automatically eligible to participate in SNAP, leaving hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians unable to purchase food or access school lunches. Given this proposal, it is imperative that we do everything in our legislative power to protect our state’s most vulnerable populations. I plan to introduce a resolution condemning the Trump administration’s proposal, as it is extremely misguided and harmful. It is our duty as lawmakers to secure the health and livelihood of our most vulnerable populations. Please join me in supporting legislation that works to accomplish both. |
