Subject: Cosponsor Memo – Substituting High School Sports Participation for Physical Education Requirement
 
Dear Colleagues –

A high school student in my district recently approached me with an idea for changing current law surrounding high school physical education requirements. In his view, participation in high school sports should satisfy the physical education requirement, rather than require student athletes to take gym class on top of their sports participation.

This student even drafted his own bill on the subject. We met several times over the last year to refine the idea, going through several drafts. His final product is attached to this cosponsor memo. I would encourage you to take a look at his proposal and consider signing on as a cosponsor.
