Subject: | Tuition Freeze at PASSHE Schools |
In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation that would enact a five-year tuition freeze at PASSHE institutions. Following that five year period, PASSHE institutions would be limited to a maximum annual tuition increase of two percent. The State System of Higher Education serves as an affordable alternative to private and for-profit schools in the state. In an increasingly complex economy, having a well-trained, highly skilled workforce is paramount. Just as secondary schooling was expanded a century ago to meet the demands of the industrial economy, today we must ensure that middle-class families in Pennsylvania are not priced out of the choice to attend public higher educational institutions where they can learn the skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market. Please join us in promoting college affordability by co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
