Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 23, 2013 12:45 PM
From: Senator John P. Blake
To: All Senate members
Subject: Blake: Strengthening Job Creation Tax Credit Program

In the near future, I will reintroduce Senate Bill 685 of the 2011-2012 Session. This proposal would revamp Pennsylvania’s Job Creation Tax Credit Program. Job creation tax credits are a proven incentive in attracting and retaining businesses. This legislation would increase the amount of the credit a company may claim from $1,000 to $2,000 per new job created; or from $2,500 to $4,000 per new job filled by an individual on extended unemployment. The legislation also clarifies that multi-year tax credits are authorized.

Pennsylvania’s economic recovery remains fragile and unsteady. It is critical that we pursue policies that stimulate the economy, move business forward, and create jobs even in the midst of difficult fiscal times.

This legislation is one part of a legislative package called PA Works that is designed to create 28,000 new jobs, leverage over $2 billion in new private investment.

Last session’s co-sponsors included Senators: Costa, Tartaglione, Fontana, Solobay, Wozniak, Boscola, Yudichak, Brewster, Kitchen, Farnese, Browne, and Washington.
