Subject: Condolence Resolution Honoring the Life and Service of Shawn Giles
 
I plan to introduce a condolence resolution honoring the life and service of Shawn Giles who was killed August 20, 2023, while serving in the line of duty.

Shawn was a veteran of the United States army, serving in Germany from 1989-1993. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 4789, The Brotherhood of Saint Joseph’s Club and East Erie Loyal Order of the Moose 593. His love was being a member of the Fuller Hose Company #1 in North East, where he served as a firefighter and performed fire police duties.

Unfortunately, Shawn was tragically killed by a speeding motorist while directing traffic at an accident scene. The unimaginable loss is felt keenly by his family, colleagues, friends and community. 

Shawn died while selflessly serving the citizens of this Commonwealth.  His sacrifice underscores how our Pennsylvania Volunteers put their lives on the line for our safety each and every day.
