Subject: | Standardizing the approval process for broadband and railroad crossings |
Pennsylvania has over 5900 miles of railroad track crisscrossing the state. The process and timeline for broadband providers in obtaining right-of-way approval from railroad owners has become a roadblock to the timely deployment of high speed internet in the Commonwealth. Senator Phillips-Hill and I will be introducing legislation, modeled after a law recently enacted in Virginia (attached), to address this issue by creating a standardized timeline for approval, implementation, and fee schedule for the crossings. We hope you will join us in sponsoring this legislation. |
