Subject: | Legislation to Permit the Purchase of Wine and Liquor on Credit for Licensees |
I plan to reintroduce legislation making changes to the process in which liquor licensees can pay for and obtain alcohol from state stores for the purpose of retail sale. This bill would permit liquor licensees with the ability to purchase wines and spirits from state liquor stores on a credit basis – no payment being required at the time of purchase. Current law does not allow the Liquor Control Board (LCB) to provide for payment flexibility such as this. Under this concept, a liquor licensee would be able to purchase liquor from a state store on a line of credit, with a maximum of no more than 30 days accrual without any payment towards the balance. This is an easy way to help businesses, and I invite you to support me and them by co-sponsoring this legislation. This legislation mirrors SB 513 of the 2021-22 Legislative Session. Co-sponsors included: COSTA, FONTANA, KEARNEY and STEFANO. |
