Subject: | Resolution recognizing February 22nd through February 28, 2021, as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week |
We will be introducing a resolution recognizing February 22, 2021 through February 28, 2021, as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. The goal of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAwareness Week) is to shine the spotlight on eating disorders by educating the public, spreading a message of hope, and putting life-saving resources into the hands of those in need. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness and approximately 30 million Americans struggle at some point in their lives with an eating disorder. Unfortunately, myths and misinformation keep people from getting the help they need. The 2021 theme for NEDAwareness Week is Every Body Has a Seat at the Table. This theme invites inclusivity in the greater eating disorder community and sends a positive message to individuals at all stages of body acceptance that their eating disorder recovery issues are valid. We hope that you will join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to raise awareness and support those affected by eating disorders. |
