| Subject: | Recognizing “THON Week” in PA (2/17/20-2/23/20) |
| Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution honoring the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, or THON. Held annually each February, this Penn State University based 46 hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon is the largest student-run philanthropic endeavor in the world, both in revenue and volunteer participation. With the support of students from across the Commonwealth, and beyond, this yearlong effort benefits the Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Whether to cover cancer treatment costs or to fund research for a cure, THON has raised $168 million, to date, for the benefit of those impacted by childhood cancer. This year, THON will begin on the evening of Friday, February 21st and conclude on Sunday, February 23rd, thus we recognize the week of February 17-23, 2020 as “THON Week” in PA. Please join me in honoring the tremendous effort made by more than 16,500 student volunteers as they seek to raise funding, increase awareness and provide emotional support to children and families fighting childhood cancer. |
