MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 7, 2018 10:24 AM
From: Senator Patrick J. Stefano
To: All Senate members
Subject: License Plate Fee Reduction for Vets

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will provide a reduction in fees for military veterans acquiring license plate registration.

Currently, passenger vehicles require a thirty-seven (37) dollar fee for license plate registration. Our disabled veterans are eligible for a reduced fee of eleven (11) dollars. I would like to see that reduced fee be applied to all of our veterans. After dedicating years of service defending our great nation, and commonwealth, it is the least we can do to offer this service in return.

It is my intention to introduce legislation which will enhance the benefits that our military veterans receive in thanks for their service.

This legislation was formerly Senate Bill 1084 from the 2017-18 Legislative Session. The bill was co-sponsored by Senators Browne, Bartolotta, Dinniman, Folmer, McGarrigle, Rafferty, Sabatina, Vulakovich, Ward, Yaw, and Yudichak, and passed the Senate Transportation Committee unanimously.

I sincerely hope that you will consider joining me in co-sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact Jake Gery in my office at jgery@pasen.gov.
