Subject: | Gold Star Wives Day in Pennsylvania (April 5) |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating April 5th as "Gold Star Wives Day." The Gold Star Wives were established April 5, 1945, as a way to unite the spouses and families of the members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States who have died on active duty or as a result of a service-connected disability. Their primary mission is to provide services, support and friendship to the spouses of fallen members and veterans of the armed forces. Pennsylvania is part of the Middle Atlantic Region and has two Chapters, one in Philadelphia and one in Greater Pittsburgh. Last year, SR 60 was sponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Costa, Aument, Baker, Blake, Brewster, Brooks, Browne, Dinniman, Farnese, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hughes, Hutchinson, Killion, Mensch, Rafferty, Reschenthaler, Scavello, Ward, White and Yudichak. Please join us in sponsoring this resolution supporting the work of the Gold Star Wives. If you have any questions, please call Nate Silcox (Sen. Vulakovich) at 717-787-6538. |
