Subject: | Resolution Commemorating the 73rd Anniversary of D-Day |
In the very near future, I will be introducing a resolution commemorating the 73rd anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 2017. On June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along the coast of Normandy, France to liberate Europe and end the terrorism of Nazi Germany. More than 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded on that day in a final offensive to end Nazi atrocities. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion. It is important that we commemorate this day not only for the thousands of lives lost but also as the beginning of a strategic offensive to ultimately defeat Nazi Germany. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
