MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 6, 2017 02:17 PM
From: Senator Patrick J. Stefano
To: All Senate members
Subject: Recognizing the Lions Club International’s 100 Years of Service and Designating October 2017 as “Lions Month” in Pennsylvania

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the 100th anniversary of Lions Club International and designating the month of October 2017 as “Lions Month” in Pennsylvania.

Lions Clubs International is an international secular, non-political service organization founded by Melvin Jones in 1917. The Lions motto is "We Serve." Local Lions Club programs include sight conservation, hearing and speech conservation, diabetes awareness, youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues, and many other programs. I am sure that many of you work closely with the Lions in your community and have seen the great work they do throughout the Commonwealth.

It is important to recognize the fact that Lions around the world have been changing lives for 100 years through their humanitarian service. This Centennial Celebration is a time for these volunteers to mark this milestone, celebrate their legacy and look forward to the next century of service.

I ask that you join with me in recognizing and celebrating the important service of this organization. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact Mark Fetzko of my office.
