Subject: Ending Per Diems in the Senate
 
I am introducing a resolution amending our Senate rules to immediately end the acceptance of per diems by members.

While members have introduced legislation I support to eliminate per diems completely for all public officials and employees, I believe we should end the practice in the Senate now without waiting for the House of Representatives or the Governor to agree.

As good stewards of tax dollars, reimbursements made to us should be transparent and above reproach. Per diems allowances lack accountability in how public dollars are being spent and cause distrust among our constituents.


Introduced as SR333
