Subject: | Memo #25 -- Forensic Nurses Week |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a Senate resolution marking Nov. 11-15, 2013, as Forensic Nurses Week in Pennsylvania. Forensic nurses are highly educated professionals who are registered nurses and have completed a 40-hour course approved by the International Association of Forensic Nurses. The Keystone Chapter of the International Association of Forensic Nurses has about 150 members. Through their work, forensic nurses meet the complex forensic and healthcare needs of individuals, families and communities. Forensic nurses recognize that violence is a healthcare problem affecting individuals and communities throughout Pennsylvania. They ensure victims of sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse and other forms of violence receive specialized and compassionate care and complete collection of forensic evidence and preservation. |
