Subject: Designated Parking for Veterans & Individuals with Disabilities

Pennsylvania issues parking placards and special registration plates to individuals with disabilities and severely disabled veterans. This provides residents the ability to park near their homes. However, in many cities, veterans and persons with disabilities find another car in their spot, which prevents easy access to their residence.

Municipalities may reserve parking areas for specific persons with disabilities near their homes, but state law does not require that municipalities do this. I plan to introduce legislation changing this to require cities to create designated parking spots for individuals with a disability upon request from such individuals. This will ensure that veterans and people with disabilities have guaranteed access to their parking spot.

This is a commonsense proposal that will allow veterans and people with disabilities to park in the spot designated for them due to their disability. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
