Subject: | Rebuild Pennsylvania Act |
Please join me as a co-sponsor of the Rebuild Pennsylvania Act, which would provide critical investments in infrastructure, disaster response, energy efficiency and schools. Under this legislation, the Rebuild Pennsylvania Board would be established, with members appointed by leaders in each legislative caucus and the governor. The board would direct $3 billion in investments in flood control infrastructure, disaster response, green infrastructure, redevelopment, repairs and blight demolition, storm water infrastructure, brownfield clean-up, contaminant remediation in schools and childcare centers, business development and site selection, energy efficiency, and transportation infrastructure. Each of these areas represents a critical need in the Commonwealth. Due to our good fiscal stewardship, the Commonwealth is in an unprecedented fiscal situation unlike any I’ve witnessed during my time in Harrisburg. We can actually afford the use of this one time, $3 billion cost and still have plenty of money leftover, without touching the historic amount of money we’ve already placed in the Rainy Day Fund, and, most importantly, without increasing taxes. It’s time for us to make the investments that our communities have long waited for and so badly need. I believe this will result in many of our communities being able to engage much needed improvements without a need to increase local taxes. |
