| Subject: | Banning Russian Energy and Supporting Pennsylvanian Energy |
| Russia’s despicable actions against the Ukraine are unconscionable. While some economic sanctions have been imposed against the Russian regime, I do not believe that the federal Administration has done nearly enough to combat Putin’s most valuable economic resource, Russia’s energy industry. With our country and state’s bountiful resources, there is no reason why America should ever have been importing Russian oil or natural gas. Pennsylvania’s oil and gas industries are ready, willing, and able to begin producing more if policies are put in place to allow our resources to be easily transported throughout the country and around the globe to our allies. To that end, I will be introducing a resolution calling on the Biden Administration and Congress to ban all imports of Russian oil and gas. The resolution will also call for the Administration to take actions to allow for an increase in our domestic production and distribution of oil and natural gas and to reverse the actions the Administration has taken to make transporting our resources more difficult, which have only empowered Russia and led us to the situation we now find ourselves in. Please join me in cosponsoring this vital and timely legislation. |
