Subject: | SPC John Kulick Memorial Highway |
SPC John Kulick was a distinguished firefighter and veteran who began his firefighting career when he joined the Enterprise Fire Company as a 16-year-old junior firefighter in 1985, and subsequently rose to the rank of deputy chief. He later became a career firefighter for the Whitpain Township Fire Department in Montgomery County, where he also served as the township’s assistant fire marshal. After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, SPC John Kulick was moved to join the Pennsylvania National Guard in September 2003, and was deployed to Iraq shortly after he completed his training. On August 9, 2005, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom, SPC John Kulick was killed at 35 years of age, along with three of his fellow soldiers, when a mine exploded and enemy forces attacked using small arms fire as they were investigating a rocket-propelled grenade incident in Bayji, Iraq. In recognition of his dedication and service to our community, I will be introducing legislation to designate the section of Byberry Road between Warminster Road and Old York Road in Hatboro Borough, Montgomery County, as the SPC John Kulick Memorial Highway. Please join me in this effort to honor this remarkable member of our community and local hero. |
