Subject: | Jobs of the Future Study |
Many of the changes to the economy caused by COVID-19 and the related shutdowns will be permanent. This harsh reality means that a substantial portion of the jobs that have been lost will not be coming back, even as the economy begins to rebound. If the Commonwealth wants to not only recover, but grow, following COVID-19, we need a new vision. We must be prepared for the future. I believe part of being prepared for the future is making sure Pennsylvania is prepared for the jobs of the next century. To achieve this, I will be introducing a resolution to establish a select committee to review opportunities for the development of new industries in the Commonwealth, including advanced manufacturing. The select committee will be tasked with issuing a report identifying opportunities for growth and making recommendations to develop the means to take advantage of those opportunities. I look forward to working with you on this proposal, which is part of the Commonwealth’s COVID Comeback legislative package. |
