| Subject: | Grants for Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries |
| The COVID-19 pandemic has left many Commonwealth breweries, distilleries and wineries with empty seats due to the need to limit occupancy and ensure social distancing. While craft spirits sales are projected to fall 41 percent, or $700 million, for calendar year 2020, craft distillers have had to furlough 31 percent of their employees or approximately 4,600 people. Similarly, over 60 percent of breweries had slowed production, and over 28 percent had stopped production entirely in 2020. To help the industry survive these limitations, I am introducing a bill which will offer grants to Pennsylvania’s beer, liquor and wine manufacturers that provide service for on-premise. Our local breweries, distilleries and wineries are a sense of pride to the communities they reside since many are family-owned local businesses. They are employers, community supporters and places to bring people together. Please join me in supporting our PA manufacturers and saving jobs. |
