MEMORANDUM

From: Representative Steven R. Malagari
To: All House members
Subject: COVID-19 Grants for Small Entertainment Venues and the Hospitality Industry

Pennsylvania small businesses need our help. Especially impacted are our small entertainment and hospitality providers, forced to shutter for long periods through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with little end in sight. While the hope of vaccine distribution looms, many have been lost and more face closure as the pandemic rages on. This threatens the health of our communities, both culturally and economically. We must act to save these crucial businesses.

My legislation will create a grant program to assist small businesses in the entertainment and hospitality fields. Eligible entities will include independent movie theaters, performing arts venues, restaurants, bars, taverns, catering companies and lodging accommodations. Previous recipients of over $100,000 in COVID relief will be ineligible for this program so that we may assist those most in need.

Local small entertainment and hospitality venues will provide much-needed respite when we are once again able to gather as a community. I hope that you will join me in support of these businesses committed in their service to all Pennsylvanians.
