Subject: | Polish-American Heritage Month – October 2020 |
This year marks the 412th Anniversary of Polish settlers arriving to the United States of America. Since 1608, people of Polish heritage have contributed greatly to global achievement and advancement of the United States and Pennsylvania. This year, Poland marks the 1054th anniversary of the Documented History of Poland (966 to 2020). This is also the 39th anniversary of declaring October “Polish American Heritage Month” in Pennsylvania. Other notable anniversaries this year include the 81st anniversary of the invasion of Poland, the 76th anniversary of the battle of Monte Cassino, and the 76th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. Let us take this month to recognize the achievements of some of our Polish-Pennsylvanians like former U.S. Representative Paul Kanjorski, the inventor of nylon and Kevlar Stephanie Kwolek, and professional ice hockey defenseman Matt Bartowski. Please join me in sponsoring this resolution declaring October 2020 “Polish American Heritage Month.” |
