Subject: | Resolution Honoring the 75th Anniversary of the Slinky |
Colleagues, I plan to introduce a resolution, along with Rep. Perry Warren, commemorating the 75th anniversary of one of America’s favorite toys, the Slinky. The Slinky was introduced to the market in 1945 by its creator, Richard James, and his wife Betty. James Industries built a factory to manufacture the popular toy in suburban Philadelphia in 1948, and later set up headquarters in Hollidaysburg, where the factory still produces the Slinky today. The Slinky has gone to space in the space shuttle Discovery, had a postage stamp issued featuring it, and is in the toy hall of fame. Recently, the Slinky was acquired by another Pennsylvania company, Just Play LLC which is located in Newtown, PA, in Rep. Warren’s district. They will continuing to create this beloved toy for many years to come. Please join us in cosponsoring this resolution. Thank you |
