Subject: | March 2020 as “National Social Work Month” |
Social workers devote their lives to helping individuals who need assistance with social problems and life complications. Social workers play a crucial role in our society and are often the driving force behind important social movements in Pennsylvania, the United States, and abroad. In Pennsylvania, there are over 11,000 licensed social workers creating positive change daily in our communities. That is why I will be introducing a resolution designating March 2020 as “National Social Work Month” in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme for the national celebration is “Social Workers: Generations Strong,” which highlights the fact that social workers have been working for generations to improve the lives of every single American. Many of the myriad benefits Americans enjoy today, including more access to health and mental health care, a minimum wage and Social Security, are because of the work of social workers and others. Social work is also a profession that allows people across many generations to make a profound, positive impact on the lives of millions of people each day. Please join me in giving proper recognition to our social workers for the skillful and selfless work they perform 365 days a year. Your consideration and support is appreciated. |
