Subject: | Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law - Amendments |
In the near future, I will reintroduce legislation similar to last session’s HB 1106, that amends the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law. The legislation makes a number of changes to current exemptions and cleans up some loose continuing education language. This session's bill will also include additional provisions that will alleviate some confusion created by a recent court decision involving the practice of both engineering and land surveying. It is supported by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors, and is a reflection of input received from other interested organizations. It makes clear that the practice of these professions can occur even if there is not a "design" per se. The passage of this legislation will bring about a safer Pennsylvania without creating an undue burden on the engineering, and land surveying community, and clarify the practices of professional engineering and land surveying in the law. The following members cosponsored last session. EMRICK, MURT, PICKETT, WARD, GILLEN, SCHLEGEL, CULVER, MILLARD AND READSHAW.. |
