MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 26, 2019 11:09 AM
From: Representative Johnathan D. Hershey
To: All House members
Subject: Sergeant Melvin G. Ehrhart Memorial Bridge

In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation designating a bridge on a portion of State Route 3012 over Back Creek on the border of Hamilton Township and St. Thomas Township, Franklin County as the Sergeant Melvin G. Ehrhart Memorial Bridge.

Sergeant Melvin Ehrhart served proudly as a member of the United States Army from October 10, 1968, until his death on April 28, 1969. During his tenure, he served with Company D, 4th Battalion, 39th Infantry, 9th Infantry in the Republic of Vietnam. Sergeant Ehrhart heroically participated in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory in support of counter insurgency operations.

To exemplify his heroism, Sergeant Ehrhart was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, the Air Medal-Second Oak Leaf, the Army Commendation Medal-First Oak Leaf Cluster with “V” Device, the Bronze Star, the Bronze Star-First Oak Leaf and the Bronze Star-Second Oak Leaf.

Please join me in honoring Sergeant Ehrhart by cosponsoring this Memorial Bridge dedication legislation.
