Subject: | Senior Citizen Property Tax Freeze via Advertisement Tax |
Did you know that advertisements are not taxed in Pennsylvania? I believe that this is a giveaway to big business and that is why I am proposing legislation that will tax advertisements and generate approximately $135 million in tax revenue that will be earmarked exclusively for Senior Citizen Property Tax Freezes. If my proposal is fully implemented it is estimated that anywhere between 126,000 to 284,000 senior households could benefit from a property tax freeze. I am sure that our constituents would agree that pharmaceutical advertising is not a necessity (like food and clothing) and should be included among items on which a sales tax is imposed. Advertisements on television dominate most of the airtime. Large corporations pay millions of dollars for TV time, and the Commonwealth should be capturing some of that revenue. Please join me in supporting this proposal and finally deliver property tax relief to our Senior Citizens. |
