Subject: Compulsory School Age Exemption for Home School Families
 
Please join me by cosponsoring legislation that I plan to introduce in the near future, which will relieve homeschool parents from the administrative burdens imposed by the change in the compulsory school age law. Act 16 of 2019 changed the compulsory school age in the Commonwealth from ages 8-17 to 6-18.

The legislation will provide an exception to the compulsory school age for children under the age of eight whose parent or guardian files a notice with the superintendent of the school district of the intention to enroll the child in a home school program.
