Subject: | Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) in Certain Liquor Establishments |
According to Play Pennsylvania, there are an estimated 40,000 illegal VGTs operating at various bars, restaurants, and social clubs across Pennsylvania. Further, just 600 legal VGTs will ultimately run within the estimated 120 truck stop sites that qualify for VGT establishment licenses under the gaming expansion law enacted in 2017. Clearly, there is much to be gained by further expanding VGTs to liquor establishments. My legislation will seek to seize this opportunity by allowing liquor establishments to operate up to three VGTs. This legislation will not include grocery stores, hotels, off-track gambling facilities, restaurants in casinos, or restaurants and convenience stores whose carry out liquor sales exceed 50% of total sales. Please consider an expansion that will produce much needed revenue for our state by supporting this important legislation. |
