Subject: | Waterfront Redevelopment Grant Program |
From the famous Three Rivers, to the shores of Lake Erie, to the banks of the Susquehanna, Schuylkill, and Delaware Rivers, Pennsylvania has amazing waterfront property. We, as a Commonwealth, have an interest in promoting the thoughtful redevelopment of our coastal waterways, while ensuring the protection of these areas. When we accommodate waterfront redevelopment, it boosts the economy, creates jobs, improves the environment, and fosters tourism. My legislation will give us the opportunity to revitalize communities in waterfront areas through economic development by establishing a state grant program aimed at increasing both public and private investment and economic development in Pennsylvania’s coastal and waterfront areas. The program seeks to provide funding for projects which support remediation and economic development in areas of the state where potentially contaminated, undeveloped or under-developed property exists. It is our duty as public servants to responsibly develop and utilize our natural resources as a means of providing a stable future for the citizens of the Commonwealth. I encourage you to join me in this endeavor in support of cleaner and better waterways, our communities, workers, and a strong state economy. |
