Subject: Resolution Recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway
 
I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway. The Battle of Midway was a decisive naval battle in World War II that turned the tide of the war in the Pacific. Between June 4 and 7, 1942, only six months after Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States Navy decisively defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy near Midway Atoll. U.S. forces inflicted devastating damage on the Japanese fleet that proved irreparable. The Battle of Midway effectively ended Japan's ability to prosecute an offensive war in the Pacific during World War II.
