Subject: | Cosponsorship - PFC/POW William G. Koontz Memorial Bridge |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor Private First Class and Prisoner of War William G. Koontz. The bill will designate Segment 0180 of State Route 1005 over Beaver Creek in Bedford County as the PFC/POW William G. Koontz Memorial Bridge. PFC Koontz served during the Korean War in the United States Army with Company E, 24th Division, Eighth Army. He was a prisoner of war for 888 days in the Chong-song prison camp. PFC Koontz was released from prison by the Chinese on August 11, 1953 and was reunited with his family in Pennsylvania. Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation in order to honor a fallen soldier. |
