MEMORANDUM TO: All House Members FROM: Representative Robert L. Freeman DATE: January 18, 2017 SUBJECT: Proposed Legislation: Housing Authority Police (Former House Bill 1323) In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would amend the Housing Authorities Law. This legislation will allow Housing Authorities to establish a police force in cities of the 3rd class (cities of the first class and counties of the second class which already have that authority). These police officers would be required to complete the same courses of instruction as is required for all other municipal police officers under state law. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Brianna Medevich in my office by e-mail at bmedevic@pahouse.net or by telephone at 783-3815.
