Subject: | Recognizing May as Law Month in Pennsylvania |
In the very near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to designate May as Law Month in Pennsylvania designating May 1, 2016 as “Law Day”. The theme for this year’s celebration is Miranda: More Than Words. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of our nation's best-known U.S. Supreme Court case, Miranda v. Arizona. This event has been designated as a day to educate people of all ages about the legal system and to celebrate liberty, justice and equality. We will teach our children about the importance of civil and human rights and promoting equality for all under the law. Pennsylvania observes Law Day by focusing on our children from Kindergarten through college levels. Our judges and lawyers visit with our schools educating our children about their legal rights and responsibilities. The Pennsylvania Bar Association is in its 14th year of participating along with county bar associations across the Commonwealth. I hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
