Subject: | Photo and Video Auto Appraisal |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation to amend the Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser Act of 1972, to provide for photographs and videos as an option to obtain an auto appraisal. Under current law, an auto appraisal must be done in person by a certified appraiser. There are new methods of inspection that improve customer service and satisfaction and are based on new quality electronic enhancements and developments. In other states, insurance companies allow vehicle owners to photograph or video tape damages and submit the photos and/or videos to their insurance company for review and generate an estimated cost to repair their damages. Currently, 45 other states allow for the use of photographs and/or video as an option to obtain an auto appraisal for accident damages. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
