MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 20, 2015 03:50 PM
From: Representative Tim Briggs
To: All House members
Subject: Prohibiting the carrying of firearms in casinos

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would prohibit the carrying of firearms on the premises of Pennsylvania casinos.

Last year, the Office of the Attorney General conducted a review of the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act and determined the PA Gaming Control Board no longer had the authority to limit the possession of firearms in a licensed casino facility and, on April 16, 2015, the Board convened and repealed their firearm regulations.

Casinos currently have the right to prohibit firearms from their premises as part of their internal policies; however, these policies do not have the force of law behind them. My legislation would simply codify these policies into state law.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB1236
