Subject: | Condolence Resolution for retired US Air Force Colonel George J. Plava |
In the near future, we will be introducing a condolence resolution honoring the life and service of retired Air Force Col. George J. Plava, a life-long resident of the 50th Legislative District. Col. Plava, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. A fine example of the “Greatest Generation,” George Plava was devoted to his family, faith, community and country. As a World War II pilot, George flew supply planes and received the Purple Heart. Following the completion of his active military service, he resumed his career in education serving as a teacher, principal and finally retiring as Superintendent of the Albert Gallatin School District. After retirement, George continued to serve his community as a longtime member of the Masontown Library, and the Connellsville Airport Authority. Please join us in honoring the lifetime accomplishments of a man who was a true community leader. |
