MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 4, 2015 12:36 PM
From: Representative Pam Snyder
To: All House members
Subject: Co-sponsor Legislation: Extending the Federal Funded Job Training Program to Active Duty Members of the PA National Guard and Their Spouses (Former HB 158)

In the near future I intend to re-introduce legislation (former HB 158) to provide additional job-training opportunities to individuals who have honorably served our country as members of the Pennsylvania National Guard and reserve components of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Under the federal Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002, veterans and, in certain cases, spouses of veterans are given preference in federal funded job training programs. My legislation would extend this benefit to active duty members of the Guard and Reserves, as well as their spouses.

Specifically, my legislation would give active duty Guard and Reservists preference for placement into job training programs for a period of one year after discharge. To qualify, the individual must meet eligibility requirements of the training program and provide appropriate documentation of military service.

I hope that you will join with me to help recognize our service men and women by supporting this important legislation.

Introduced as HB581
