Subject: | Legalizing “quarter auctions” as a small game of chance |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will give licensed organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act an opportunity to offer an additional type of game to their patrons. Current law states that only punchboards, daily drawings, weekly drawings, raffles, pull-tabs, 50/50s, Night at the Races, pools and raffle auctions (Chinese Auctions) are permitted to be played by a licensed eligible organization. My legislation would expand this to include “coin auctions” such as quarter auctions as small game of chance. My legislation would define a “coin auction” as a game in which a participant buys a paddle for a chance to bid on a donated prize with the winner determined by a random drawing. Simply put, my legislation gives our local charitable organizations an additional way to raise money for their organizations. This is a bill from last session introduced by Representative Seth Grove. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation. |
