House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 18, 2014 01:37 PM
From: Representative Paul I. Clymer
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Urging the President, the Pentagon, and the Congress to Reconsider Any Planned Reduction in the Current Military Officer Strength

In the near future, I will be introducing a House resolution (copy attached) requesting President Obama, the Secretary of Defense, and the Congress to disengage in the practice of sending pink slips to those military personnel serving in combat zones. This kind of irresponsibility is both discouraging and demoralizing to those defending our freedoms and liberties.

The attached news article by former U.S. Army Captain Jonathan Henderschott speaks to the seriousness of sending pink slips and the disrespect for our brave soldiers. I agree with Captain Henderschott: this is a national security issue as well.

I hope you will consider joining me as a sponsor of this resolution.
