Subject: | Resolution Honoring the Life and Public Service Contributions of William Blakey |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that honors the life and public service contributions of William Blakey, and extends condolences to his family. William “Bill” Blakey passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the age of 86. A pillar of the Hill District community, Mr. Blakey worked for the Hill House Association, and its predecessor, for almost 60 years. At the time of his retirement, he was the Hill House Association’s longest tenured employee. Mr. Blakey dedicated his life to furthering the goals of the Hill House Association, and to bettering the community. In 2013, he was honored for this commitment by being awarded the Thelma Lovette Community Service Award. Known for his exceptional generosity and kindness, Mr. Blakey was greatly loved by the residents of the Hill District, and by the City of Pittsburgh. Please join me in honoring the life and public service contributions of Mr. William Blakey, as well as extending our condolences to his family. |
