MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 5, 2013 11:27 AM
From: Representative Warren Kampf
To: All House members
Subject: Latin Motto Legislation

I plan to introduce legislation designating “Ubi libertas vivit, hic patria mihi” as the official Latin motto of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The motto is the Latin translation of the quote “Where liberty is, there is my country,” which has been attributed to the Pennsylvania statesman Benjamin Franklin.

One of my constituents, a high school senior, asked that I sponsor this legislation. He is the President of the Junior Classical League and there is a similar bill (Senate Bill 868) in the Senate.

Introduced as HB1775
