Subject: | Co-Sponsorship of Legislation: Urging Congress to pass H. R.1014, which exempts National Guard Military Technicians from sequestration. |
In the near future, I will introduce a Resolution urging Congress to support and pass H.R. 1014, which exempts National Guard Military Technicians from sequestration. The Department of Defense (DOD) saw $47 billion in cuts, including 800,000 civilian employees, due to sequestration. In order to limit the impact of the ongoing budget debates on military readiness, the Pentagon exempted uniformed personnel; however, this did not include National Guard Military Technicians. National Guard Military Technicians provide critical support to our troops, enabling them to be ready and prepared for both Federal and State missions. These technicians are essential to the mission of the National Guard, as well as the safety of Pennsylvania’s citizens. It is of the utmost importance that military technicians be exempt from sequestration, as furloughs may result in severe consequences for the Guard as a whole. Please join me in co-sponsoring this very important legislation, which will be introduced on Monday, June 10th |
