MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: RESOLUTION: HONORING THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE SOCIETY DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (PSSDAR)

In the near future, I am planning to introduce a resolution honoring the Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (PSSDAR) for its patriotism in seeking to inclusively promote, through education, the history of the United States of America, and for its noteworthy community service.

The membership of the Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution is comprised of women who are descended from American patriots who were involved in America’s cause for independence. Through historical, educational and patriotic objectives, the PSSDAR seeks to affirm and reinforce the meaning and value of American citizenship and to support the institutions that are essential to the promotion and preservation of American freedom.

PSSDAR represents women of all backgrounds and ages, and seeks to inclusively promote, through education, the history of our country. Members in Pennsylvania and across the country are also involved in promoting literacy, highlighting women’s issues and engaging in conservation and historic preservation. This organization also volunteers to support veterans, and locates, restores, and marks thousands of patriot grave sites and headstones.

In addition, PSSDAR awards scholarships and financial aid each year to students, and also supports the underprivileged through financial donations. Therefore, it is due to the foregoing reasons that I ask for your co-sponsorship of this measure.

If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this measure, please feel free to contact Fran Harris at (717)772-6955 or fharris@pahouse.net.
